Project Managed the relocation and testing of Disaster Recovery arrangements for Aviva Investors.
This assignment centred upon managing the relocation of existing recovery arrangements to a new Disaster Recovery (DR) facility, to be operational within a time frame of 4 months following project commencement
The work included the establishment of the necessary infrastructure and communications links between the new DR site and Corporate Data Centres
The scope of the assignment included:
- Developing requirement and design specifications, as well as acceptance test plans in order to prove the operational capability of the site
- Designing, developing and proving the ability to build 250 user-specific desktops (containing software relevant to each user being relocated to the DR site) within a 4 hour period of invocation
- Testing the functional operation of the site, by front line business users, over a two day test period
- Providing updated documentation for invocation, disaster recovery, incident management and departmental recovery plans
- Decommissioning existing facilities and ensuring a successful handover for ongoing management and maintenance
Martin Stevens Project Services successfully completed the project on time and to budget providing 50 desks permanently available on the Aviva network with a further 200 desktops within 4 hours should the DR site need to become operational
